The interview was relatively quick and easy. Much better than expected. Arrived at the consulate at 12:00. I met some other people there who applied for spousal visas. The security guard came out at 13:00. He asked for your name, checked it off on his tablet and then check to see whether your passport photos are the right size. You then have to switch off your phone and hand in any phones and electronics you have on you. They keep it in a plastic bin until you’re done. You can however take in your handbag etc. We went through to the room where the interviews are done. A lady there asks for your passport, and gives you a number. You then get called to the first set of windows by number. They take your fingerprints and then asks for your documents one by one. First all the official docs like UBC, PCC, proof of payment, etc. after that the financial support affidavit and supporting docs. And then for any evidence of relationship you have. From there you sit down again. You get call... read complete review

So, we stayed at an AirBNB within walking distance from the consulate and Sandton City. For those traveling outside of Johannesburg, I recommend this because you will have everything you need right there. To the interview, you cannot park or drop off at the consulate. You must park at Sandton Ciry and cross the street. For us, it didn’t matter that we were one of the first in line and sitting on the bench. The lady came out at exactly one on and said...”if you are here as an immagrant form a que here...” which was on the other side of the rope from us, so the people who came in five minutes from one wound up at the front of the line. So if you do get there early enough to get a bench, be ready to move to the front of the line on the other side of the ropes. The side where the benches are is a que for citizen matters only Once we were lined up, they asked for names to verify we were in system. They took about five in the building at a time. Once inside, you ... read complete review

Firstly, I would like to say that although it was quite a nerve-wrecking experience, the overall interview and the collection of documents at the consulate was a breeze. Here are a few tips that I think you will find useful for the day of your interview;

* Do not try and park your car directly in front of the consulate- or even stop your car to be dropped off- security will ask you to leave and move your car. It is also on a seriously busy road so it won't be a good idea to pull over there anyway. I parked at Sandton City Mall parking lot, which is right across the street from the main entrance of the consulate. The parking was R20.00.

* When you get to the consulate early, you will not be allowed inside of the building. Security will ask you to remain outside on the sidewalk. An official will then come out and ask all the people waiting to form lines based on whether they are citizens or not. The official will then check your name on an iPad to make sur... read complete review

Aww yes!

But I can give a quick brief right now while I'm in the car,

It was very straightforward, the lady who called us first asked for all the required documents (one by one so picking them out of the file wasn't difficult)

And took fingerprints, wanted the affidavit financials all completely out of envelopes and files and then asked if there is anything else I would like to give her to help my case (I said no)

Then went back sat down for 60 seconds, then they called our ticket at a different window to commence with the interview.

Lady said to lift right hand up and said "do you agree that everything you say here will be the truth and nothing else"

I said yes.

SO then she asked if either of us have ever been married, how... read complete review
